Are you pregnant and wanting to prepare yourself for delivery? See blow for tips and information of how we can help you!
Pelvic Floor Assessment:
Prior to delivery it is highly recommended that a pelvic floor assessment is completed. A Physiotherapist can check if you are able to complete a pelvic floor contraction correctly, if you are tight or weak in your pelvic floor muscles and if you have correct pushing technique. They are also able to check to see if you are at a risk of higher degree perineal tears by taking some measurements of your pelvic floor.
Perineal Massage:
Research shows that perineal massage can help to reduce the severity of perineal tears! Our physiotherapists can guide you with perineal massage including teaching you how to perform it properly and give you information on when you are able to start perineal massage.
Labour tens:
During labour it is important that you have a variety of tools and techniques to help you throughout! ‘Labour Tens’ machines are non-medicated pain-relieving option that you can use. At Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy we hire out labour tens machines to our patients and can show you how to use them correctly so that you feel confident on the day.
Breathing and stretching:
Our Physiotherapists are also able to provide you with pregnancy safe breathing exercises to help relax the pelvic floor and stretches to help loosen the muscles around your hips!
