What are the benefits of breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding has a number of benefits for both the child’s and breastfeeding parent’s health, as well as additional economic, environmental and bonding benefits. At Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy, we acknowledge that breastfeeding can come with its challenges, and we pride ourselves in being able to support women, and those assigned female at birth, in continuing their breastfeeding journey.

How can Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy help to manage your concerns with breastfeeding?

Our team at Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy are knowledgeable in the management of breast conditions such as engorgements, mastitis and blocked ducts. Through a thorough assessment, your physiotherapist will provide you with a diagnosis of your concern and if required, refer you to either a general practitioner or lactation consultant for collaboration and support. Treatment that will be provided during your consultation may include education, postural advice, gentle massage techniques, advice regarding heat and cold therapy and ultrasound therapy.
