Joanne is passionate about empowering women throughout their health journey by combining education, exercise, and holistic support.
She holds a Masters of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Human Movement and brings over a decade of experience as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in private practice. Joanne has a strong foundation in managing a wide range of conditions, including post-surgical rehabilitation, neck and back pain as well as sports injuries.
Joanne developed a keen interest in women’s health following her own birth journeys with her two children, which has further deepened her passion for pre and postnatal physiotherapy care. She enjoys treating conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain, and rib or back discomfort during pregnancy. She is particularly passionate about prenatal exercise prescription and birth preparation.
Joanne facilitates our birth skills workshops in collaboration with Born Ready to help women prepare for delivery. This has deepened her understanding of and ability to help women in preparing their body (including their pelvic floor) and mind for birth and guiding them regarding options on birth positions and pain management strategies. She also works one day per week servicing the maternity ward at Norwest Private Hospital.
In addition, Joanne has extensive experience in postnatal care including assessment and treatment of abdominal separation (diastasis recti), pelvic floor rehabilitation, blocked ducts and mastitis and guidance on safe return to sport or physical activity. Further to this, Joanne can assist women at any stage of their life with stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and pelvic organ prolapse and is able to fit prolapse and continence pessaries.
Outside the clinic, Joanne enjoys staying active in her home gym, going for walks, and roller skating with her daughter. She also finds balance and joy in reading and spending time in her garden.
