Children’s Health
Experiencing urinary and/or faecal leakage can have negative social and emotional effects on children and their families. Our goal at Pelvic Connections is for all children to have a feeling of empowerment and control over their own bodies.
Children are not small adults and therefore their continence needs are very different to adults. Our physiotherapists have undergone additional training to allow them to better understand the concerns of children’s continence management.
At Pelvic Connections, we adopt an evidence-based treatment to manage your child’s concerns and ensure that we take their individuality (neurodiversity) and family dynamics into account when preparing treatment plans to ensure best possible outcomes.
Our team (physiotherapists and administrative) are aware of secure parenting practices, showing each child the way towards feeling safe in their surroundings and within their body. Through practicing co-regulation, empathy and acknowledgement of feelings, we see transferable results in how the parents approach and support their child during treatment.
We are fortunate to work with many other health professionals in the community such as specialists, paediatricians, psychologists and other allied health members, ensuring a holistic approach is taken during treatment.
