Marissa graduated from the Australian Catholic University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy and since graduating has been working in private practice managing women’s health and musculoskeletal concerns. Through her years, her areas of interest have expanded to include paediatric continence and men’s health.
Marissa is incredibly passionate about pelvic health, particularly the management of pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. She recognises the importance of a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach when addressing her patients concerns. Marissa enjoys taking away the principles of yoga and pilates when prescribing exercise and has presented at the Continence Foundation of Australia NSW 2021 Conference about the benefits of yoga as a therapy for pelvic floor dysfunction.
In 2023, Marissa presented at the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) conference in Brisbane on the Opportunities to improve access to pelvic healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women. This topic of interest has been a part of her research completed during her Masters program at Curtin University and will hopefully be published shortly. Marissa is passionate about supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and welcomes all patients to the clinic in a supportive way.
As our lead physiotherapist, Marissa assists in mentoring our junior physiotherapists. She is enthusiastic about supporting our future of physiotherapists and ensuring that Sydney Women’s Physiotherapy maintains the high level standard of therapy that it is known for.
In her spare time, Marissa enjoys playing netball at a competitive level, running, cycling, pilates, yoga and most importantly, attending her book club!
If you would like to make an appointment with Marissa please call the clinic to do so.
